Coble County Store

The Coble Store sits at 835 Hwy 438, Centerville, TN, just off the scenic Minnie Pearl Parkway (Hwy 50) and just west of Grinders Switch, Tennessee, the famous hometown of Minnie Pearl.  Miss Pearl's creator, Ophelia Colley as the locals knew her, lived in Colleytown just down the hill from Centerville.  The rest of the world knew her later in life as Sarah Colley Cannon.

The spirits of Minnie Pearl and her Uncle Nabob still live in this small, old-fashioned country store preserved by Jim Rozum, the store's co-owner, and his managing partner, Bill Kirk.  They have preserved a lot of the culture from the area's past.  You'll find a wood-burning stove like Uncle Nabob's where people can sit, tell tales, and let the stresses of life pass by.  In hot weather, people sit on the front porch and watch the traffic go by and speculate about what the passers-by might be doing.  And, they welcome everyone to the store and to the community.  Need some help?  You'll find it here.

Coble Country Store has a  plentiful supply of everyday groceries, some hand-made cedar rocking chairs made by a local woodworker,  other fine crafts made by the nearby Mennonite community, some other uncommon gifts, gasoline, bagged ice, propane, and a small restaurant that guarantees the best burger and catfish you'll find in these parts plus about anything else you want them to cook hot and fresh for you.

On Friday nights there is Karaoke.  On Saturday nights there's live music at the Coble Opry.  There are plenty of great, up-and-coming musicians around Nashville, Music City USA, that come to the Coble Opry--you'll have a great time here.

About Coble

The village of Coble sits just west of Centerville, Tennessee, the county seat of Hickman County.  This small town once had its own school system, including a two-year high school, and five stores.  It was a booming agricultural center just off the fertile land of nearby Beaverdam Creek and the Duck River.
